Regular check-ups that include dental cleanings and exams, help you maintain optimal oral hygiene while helping to prevent tooth decay or disease. Often we miss spots of plaque during brushing or flossing, and regular dental visits are important for removing the plaque that can build up over time.
If you are due for any x-rays, your visit will begin with getting current film as soon as you are brought back from reception. During your visit we will begin by cleaning your teeth to remove any built up mineralized plaque. Depending on severity of build up your dentist may use a technique called scaling and root planing to remove any excess dental plaque or tartar.
After your cleaning the dentist will perform a dental exam to check for cavities, signs of tooth decay, gum deficiencies, or spacing issues. If any follow-up care is required the dentist will explain this to you as well as any other concerns found.
